Workshop: Healthy Relationships and Sexuality for Self-Advocates with Down Syndrome
This is a workshop for transitioning teen and adult self-advocates to engage in learning and self-discovery about relationships.
Attendees will learn about:
- What makes a relationship healthy, unhealthy, and abusive/toxic across relationship types (friends, family, and romantic/sexual relationships).
- What they want and do not want from different relationships, including friendships and romantic/sexual relationships.
- Understanding the benefits and risks of sexual activity.
Attendees can also ask questions about relationships, bodies and sexual health. To facilitate a confidential experience for all attendees, the workshop will be limited to self-advocates. Families and caregivers will be provided with a list of resources to help develop their knowledge and support their loved ones.
This is a free workshop for the Down syndrome community, but space is limited. Virtual options are also available.
