Workshop: Healthy Relationships and Sexuality for Self-Advocates with Down Syndrome

This is a workshop for transitioning teen and adult self-advocates to engage in learning and self-discovery about relationships.

Attendees will learn about:

  • What makes a relationship healthy, unhealthy, and abusive/toxic across relationship types (friends, family, and romantic/sexual relationships).
  • What they want and do not want from different relationships, including friendships and romantic/sexual relationships.
  • Understanding the benefits and risks of sexual activity.

Attendees can also ask questions about relationships, bodies and sexual health. To facilitate a confidential experience for all attendees, the workshop will be limited to self-advocates. Families and caregivers will be provided with a list of resources to help develop their knowledge and support their loved ones.
