Greater Victoria Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness 2022
About 60 members, family and friends gathered at Beckwith Park in Saanich on Saturday, 4 June for the third Greater Victoria Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness. This was the first major event we have been able to sponsor since the start of the COVID pandemic and it was wonderful reconnecting with members and families as well as welcoming new families. The event included a fun fair with bouncy castles, carnival games, arts and crafts and entertainers. We were happy to welcome Special Olympic BC coaches who ran activity stations for young and old. With a wide variety of student volunteers supporting the activities, families were able to connect/re-connect and enjoy the wonderful event, including a group walk through the park and nearby neighbourhood. Through the fundraising efforts of our wonderful community and partners, more than $8,000 so far has been raised to support future programming.
We would like to extend our thanks to the many individuals and organizations that donated time, resources or services to make this event a great success
